All connexional held grants are being reviewed. Apart from ensuring that the grants are appropriate and function within the priorities of the Methodist Church, there is a need to show that the awards are a fair, balanced and appropriate use of resources. Discussion is ongoing with the suggestion that all grants will be combined and managed centrally. The Griff Fund will need to be reviewed.
In light of this, discussions were held at the October meeting of Council for Methodist Youth Work (CfMYW).
The CfMYW agreed that:
· The Griff Fund ceases to distribute funds along the existing grounds whilst new terms of reference are drawn up and agreed. (The applications received before October will still be considered.)
· That CfMYW re-affirms its support for the Griff Fund.
· That all donations to MAYC continue to be directed towards the Griff fund.
· That CfMYW recommends that the Griff Fund funds the content of Breakout 2006 to a total of £20k and requests that this time the districts pay for attendees rather than content.
So what does that mean to individuals/groups who were considering applying to the Griff Fund?
Other grants and funds are available either through the Methodist Church or other outside charities/government organisations www.volresource.org.uk/info/grantorg.htm
Within your circuit/district think about applying through The District Advance Fund (DAF).
The District Advance Fund (DAF) is a fund designed to support Churches and Circuits within the District (under S.O.963(3)). One off grants and longer term funding are available for the support of Mission and Ministry. Funding is available for projects that reflect the spirit and intention of "Our Calling". Grants are available for a variety of areas of work.
The District Advance Fund will endeavour to support the following areas of work:
1. Children and Young People
2. New ways of being church
3. Training
4. Ecumenical
