A Christian Festival
Looking for something to do for the August Bank Holiday?
Greenbelt takes place from 24-27 August 2007 at Cheltenham Racecourse. The Christian festival has something for all ages, so you will certainly find activities to satisfy you. You'll experience a variety of music from the delights of Soweto Kinch and Billy Bragg to Chas and Dave, worship sessions, debates, meeting like-minded people and much more.
Greenbelt began in 1974 on Prospect Farm in Suffolk. The founders were a group of creative people who felt there was a need for a fringe event. The festival grew annually in numbers from its initial 2,000 attendees to more than 20,000 people by the early 1980s. Today it continues to attract thousands across the age groups.
As Greenbelt has strengthened its partnership with development agency Christian Aid, and has increased links with others such as: CMS,SPCK,USPG,YMCA, ICC and The Church Times; Greenbelters have been encouraged to channel their debates on political matters into vigorous campaigning on contemporary issues.
