Dear Leader,
Hopefully you’ll have heard about Hope 2008 by now… but if not, let me fill you in. Hope 2008 is an exciting venture: a year of mission, in which Christians do more, do it together, and do it in word and action. The aim is for hundreds of churches all over the UK to be reaching out to their communities, both proclaiming and being the good news of Jesus. There is loads more information on the website (www.hope08.com), go check it out and see how you can get involved.
What better time to launch such an amazing year than New Year’s Eve? On 31st December 2007 thousands of Christians will gather at events around the UK to pray and dedicate 2008 to God.
One of the major events – the Launch of Hope 2008 in the North – will take place in York Minster. The evening will include worship led by YFriday, guest speaker Andy Hawthorne (one of the founders of Hope 2008), a Christian Aid café and a 24-7 style Boiler Room, with corporate and personal prayer throughout the night. The event is youth-focused, but people of all ages are welcome.
Tickets for this event are available now from www.hope08york.co.uk. Please find attached the event flyers. If you need any further information or would like me to send you some printed flyers/posters, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
“God seems to respond when people do sacrificial prayer. We don’t have to pray into the night, but we want to show God that this means something to us, and that we need him to use Hope 08 to impact our nation.” (Andy Hawthorne, Prayer Magazine Oct-Dec 2007)
