Hello,

Here is some info on Youth Alpha

So what is Youth Alpha?

Youth Alpha is an introductory course to Christianity. Youth Alpha has 3 streams of material - tech (using video clips from movies to make points), active (using games and practical illustrations to make points), and lite (for schools). Unfortunately the suggested movie clips cannot be made into one video resource due to copyright reasons. Each talk is presented by a 'live speaker' and the talks are usually 10-15 minutes, followed by discussion or group activities. The course runs over 8-10 sessions/weeks (depending on how long you have) with the option of a weekend or day away in the middle (Please see details below), so one practical thing to think about is when to start it - we would usually recommend to try to fit it into one school term.

The best thing I would suggest is that you get hold of a copy of the Youth Alpha Leaders' Guide - this is a fully comprehensive guide on how to run a course, including outlines of each session. There are 3 different streams of material you could use depending on your group. I have included a DVD and leaflet for more information. The guide costs £9.95 and can be obtained from the Alpha hotline on 0845 7581 278. Advertising postcards and posters are available too. You would only need 1 Leader’s guide for your course - and the youth manuals are £2.00 each - you may want to give one to each of the youth or choose not use them at all – its up to you.

Youth Alpha Conference on February 21 & 22 2008 in London in partnership with Youth for Christ & Soul Survivor. It would be great if you were able to come along, and possibly even bring some of your church's teenagers with you to inspire them to take ownership of the course for their peers next time around. For info look at http://uk.alphacourse.org/youth/conference.
