* * * London Weekend Origins of London Weekends

The official inaugriation of the 'Methodist Association of Youth Clubs' with the launch of the 'Good Ship MAYC' on Saturday June 2 1945 at the Royal Albert Hall set the trend for annual 'London Weekends'

The London Weekends continued until 1998 and was the highlight of MAYC's work.  It offered fun, fellowship and friendship to thousands of young people who attended.

The event through the years grew in popularity and in scope until it was replaced by Breakout in 1999.  Breakout has now evolved to a biennial event and in 2004 saw MAYC Breakout ‘X:posed’ in Blackpool.
