Get Knotted
18th – 20th November, Stafford
Our theme for this year was Get Knotted in (Faith, Hope & Love), which comes from the Staffordshire Knot, which is the town’s symbol.
The venue for the conference was Rising Brook Baptist Church a purpose built modern church - conference centre with flexible rooms, modern kitchens, technology and a café space. This venue was also a two-minute walk from the local Methodist church, which was used for extra space and support services for the conference. It was also only a few minutes drive from the M6 (A449) and from which the Stafford train station.
On Saturday morning the keynote speech took as its theme the knotty issue of the future.
As a collective we sought answers to the following questions:
How will you show your faith in 2020?
What do you hope for the Church in 2020?
What will God’s love be like in 2020?
The idea behind such thought-provoking questions was to encourage further debates once the weekend was over and we had returned to youth groups, college groups and our friends…
For conference 2005 we offered a relaxed café on Saturday night, for those who wanted to chat, consider politics, mull over the day, talk about the workshops, make connections and for those who wanted to brush out the cobwebs, move the body and open their ears we had a battle of the bands from local young people. While Sunday Worship continued to explore the theme of Faith, Hope and Love and was in a variety of different styles.
For the future we want you to continue examining these questions in a variety of ways, be traditional, be theological, be evangelical, be liberal, be radical, be pessimistic, be optimistic, be futuristic, be social, be individual but please be thoughtful!
