At the 2005 Conference members agreed to adopt a new name which better reflects our aims and objectives. From this point on we will be known as "Association of Black Methodist Youth Clubs" (ABMYC).
The ABMYC comes together to:
- Help Black and Asian Young Christians share common concerns about their faith and life.
- Offer scope for Young People from different ethnic backgrounds to support each other as they interact with the church and society.
There are conferences held each year to encourage and develop leadership skills within young people whilst facilitating ways in which Youths within the Black and Asian Church Community can develop, make positive and meaningful contributions to their lives and the life and work of the church. Participants value the chance to share ideas and learn from each other in a relaxed atmosphere where their concerns can be expressed freely and listened to. Participants also love the opportunity to meet in the context of Resolution 6B of the 1987 Faithful and Equal Report. …"The Conference Affirms the Right Of Black Methodists to come together to discuss their needs and concerns and to formulate positive recommendations towards addressing all issues raised."
ABMYC Ultimate Goal
The ultimate goal of the ABMYC is to be fully integrated into the Methodist Church Youth work as well as to participate freely in the activities and all decision-making processes concerning young people.
