What is the impact of spirituality on the lives of young people? How does a young person’s spiritual heritage shape his or her view on moral and political issues? Does spiritual engagement make young people happier? And what exactly do young people believe in when they say that they have spiritual beliefs?
The Commission on Urban Life and Faith and The Children’s Society have
published ‘The Spiritual Health of Young People’ report examining these life questions.
The research is the most comprehensive work on young people and spirituality in the UK. Carried out by the University of Bangor at the end of the 1990s, it is based on evidence from 30,000 young people. ‘The Spiritual Health of Young People’ gives us previously unavailable insight into young people’s lives and provides a benchmark for monitoring future change.
Seminars discussing the report were hosted for voluntary sector professionals, children and youth workers, social workers, health care professionals, local government workers, clergy, and anyone concerned with the well-being of young people.
